Dawn Wilkinson, Writer/Director/Producer
Montreal born Dawn Wilkinson is a graduate of The University of Toronto and The
Canadian Film Centre Director’s Lab and Short Dramatic Film Program. Wilkinson
has directed four short films including Girls Who Say Yes (00), Instant Dread
(98) and Dandelions (95). She was the apprentice to Norman Jewison on The
Hurricane and to Ernest Dickerson on Showtime’s Our America. The
work-in-progress of Devotion was awarded The Tony Stoltz Completion Award at the
2004 Reel World Film Festival. Devotion (05) is Dawn Wilkinson’s first feature
film. She currently has projects in development with the NFB and City TV.
Suzie Mukherjee, Producer
Suzie Mukherjee has produced over a dozen films, including Devotion (05), Esther
Baby & Me (98), Ringneck (00), XXXPOSED (99), Shrink (98), The Stone Skipper
(98), Mercury (98), Wishes (96), and Cruel Master (95). She was the associate
producer on Madness of Method (94) and Hayley's Comment (97). She plans to
continue producing independent films and has a number of other projects in
development.
Diana Abbatangelo, Production Designer
Diana Abbatangelo graduated from York University with an Honours Bachelor Degree
in Fine Arts. She has since expanded the boundaries of her canvas to include
interior spaces as an outlet for creative expression. Since 2001, Diana has been
involved in the design of over 40 productions including feature films,
television series, dramatic shorts, music videos and commercials. Such films
include The Dog Walker (directed by James Genn), Pop Song (directed by Charles
Officer), Elliot Smelliot (directed by Anita Doron), 19 Months (directed by
Randall Cole) and The Limb Salesman (directed by Anais Granofsky).
Lux (aka Dennis Dulguime), Cinematographer
Starting off his career as a still photographer, Lux developed a taste for a
photographic approach to shooting motion picture, to tell the story with the
subtle use of lighting and composition. His minimalist approach to photography
preserves the nature of how scenes progress seamlessly. It has only been 4 years
since Lux shot his first motion picture. He has photographed numerous feature
films, shorts and music videos. Shooting international artist and for major
labels such as, DreamWorks, Universal, and EMI.
Derek Madison (aka Grasshopper), Composer and Associate
Producer
With his groundbreaking 1992 release Born Loser, Grasshopper (a.k.a. Derek
Madison) introduced himself to Toronto fans as a melody making, pedal hopping,
Jazz master smashing, Hiwatt blowing T-shirt king who broke all the rules. The
release of Stereovision (94) and Kid Kobra: The Invisible Album (95), firmly
established him at the front of the indie rock scene. His much-anticipated new
release, Magnetic Superblues (05), threads hip hop MC rock, driving guitars, and
melodic lyrics with the raw emotion of street punk and dub reggae. Derek Madison
also composed Dawn Wilkinson’s short films Girls Who Say Yes (00), Dandelions
(95), and was the Music Supervisor on Instant Dread (98).
Sara Kay, Casting Director
Sara has recently joined forces with Jenny Lewis, after working as a Casting
Associate for almost 6 years. Her credits include many features including ‘My
Brother’s Keeper’ & ‘The Dark Hours’ in addition to working with Robin D. Cook
on several American Features including ‘Assault on Precinct 13’ & ‘Land of the
Dead’. Sara has also worked on several TV/reality series, as well as short
films. Her history in the business started years ago at Concordia Theatre School
where she obtained a degree in Fine Arts. Once out of school, she began her
Casting career in commercials working for Powerhouse Casting and then shortly
moved on to features.
Barry Gibson, Editor
Barry has been working as a freelance editor since 1997. He has worked on
commercials, music videos, television series and short films. When he is not
editing, Barry teaches editing and post-production at the Toronto Film School.
In addition to Devotion (05) Gibson has collaborated with Dawn Wilkinson on
music videos for Mr. Roam and Grasshopper Soundclash.
